Ten years ago I wrote this book during NaNoWriMo and self-published it with more enthusiasm than polish. My audience was a lot smaller than it is now. The editing was... rushed.
But I always loved this story, and I always felt it deserved better. So for the 10th anniversary, I went back in, gave it the editorial pass it should have had from the start, and I'm releasing it as a proper signed edition.
The premise: Natasha Delancourt is a 35-year-old Editor-in-Chief of a London publishing house who wakes up the morning after Halloween with a massive hangover, a viral photo, and a Monday morning meeting with her boss that could end her career. Her PR director tells her to get out of London for the weekend. She takes the train to Cambridge, wanders into Evensong service at King's College Chapel to clear her head, and wakes up in 1539.
What follows is part fish-out-of-water comedy, part Tudor history deep dive, part story about what happens when you can't run away from yourself anymore, because you've literally run out of centuries.
"Bridget Jones coping with Tudor England." — C.P. Lesley, novelist and host of New Books in Historical Fiction
"One of the most enjoyable debut novels I've read in a long time, with a knack for plot that doesn't necessarily come easily for nonfiction writers." — Joy Hoppenot
